You may remember from my first post that I haven’t read a book for fun in a very long time because my attention span is only the length of a tweet. Well, I have finally found a book that accommodates for my short attention span. It’s called House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski. It’s a really weird book and hard to explain but it it basically bounces between a few story lines and the font changes to signal the change in story. There are also a ton of footnotes so my eyes bounce from the top of the page to the bottom and back. I think the coolest part about this book though is that it plays with the space on the page. I haven’t gotten to this part of the book yet but a I flipped through and saw that a few pages only have one sentence on them and the sentence is arranged in some obscure way. I’m excited to get to those pages. I think the arrangement of the sentences will add something to the actual meaning of the sentences. Also, this book reminds me of a book I read in 2007 called The Name of This Book is Secret by Pseudonomous Bosch. I don’t remember much about the book but I do remember that it played with the space on the page just like House of Leaves.
