Junie B. Jones on Why I Can’t Read

It’s not that I am not capable of reading. I know how to read. It’s just that when I pick up a good book I can’t put it down until it’s done. It’s a habit I picked up from my mom. All responsibilities get put on hold when we are in the middle of a good book. I guess you could say the same thing happens when you watch t.v. but unless you are binge watching a show on Netflix you will only be putting responsibilities off for an hour or two whereas books take much longer to finish. It’s even worse if you have a kindle or e-reader of some sort because then you have the ability to have multiple books in your hands all at once and who’s to say you are going to stop at just one book? I guess all that is to say, I didn’t get any homework done over break because I had my nose in a good book the entire time.

  1. Miss Jones,
I completely understand. I’ve stayed up until the wee hours just to finish a book, no matter what I have to do the next morning. I always tell myself, “I won’t do THAT again,” but then I find a new book and forget everything else.
    Sincerely,
    Elinor Loredan
