In cass today, we talked about how replicas of art pieces do not compare to experiencing the original piece. In the same sense, I think when the art type is produced in mass in has the same effect. It loses its value. With the rise of social media and smart phones, I immediately think of photography. Photography is an art form that is valued in regards to capturing special moments in life, nature, etc. and creating those moments as well. Now with a smart phone, the right light, and the proper editing app and filter, anyone can create this “art” that was once rare and special. I think this takes away from photography as an art form as well. Mass production takes away from the value of art in this example too, just in a different way then the replication of a famous art piece.
